About Koshigaya
Koshigaya (越谷市, Koshigaya-shi) is a city located in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 January 2021, the city had an estimated population of 345,353 in 158,022 households and a population density of 5700 persons per km2. The total area of the city is 60.24 square kilometres (23.26 sq mi). It is famous for producing daruma dolls.
Koshigaya is situated in eastern Saitama Prefecture, in the alluvial plain of the Nakagawa basin between the Omiya plateau and the Shimosa plateau. Most of the city area is flat with an average elevation of only five meters above sea level. Many rivers, including the Motoara River, Naka River, Ayase River, Furutone River, and Sakagawa River flow through the city. Koshigaya, which is about 25 kilometers north of Tokyo and developed as a transportation for water and land transportation from premodern times.

Koshigaya (越谷) is accessible on the Tobu Skytree line from Ueno or the Musashino line from Tokyo/Funabashi.

Koshigaya city has 7 stations within the city boundaries, they are Gamo (蒲生), Shin-Koshigaya (新越谷), Koshigaya (越谷), Kita-Koshigaya (北越谷) and Sengendai (せんげん台) on the Isesaki Line and 2 stations on the Musashino Line, Koshigaya Laketown (越谷レイクタウン) and Minami Koshigaya (南越谷).

In April, the river near Kita Koshigaya station is lined with blossoming sakura (cherry blossom) trees. A walk of about 1 km will bring you to a park that has been filled with the beautiful flowering trees.
