Kenyir Lake travel guide
Understand
Kenyir Lake is very large and contains some islands. There is a breathtaking view from the top of the dam, and many visitors hire a boat to see the rest. There are also caves and a small waterfall nearby. Because of Tasik Kenyir's inland location and moderate elevation above sea level, its climate is somewhat cooler and moister than on the seacoast.
Getting there
The best way to access the lake is by car. Make sure you have a map, and if you're travelling from the coast, be prepared for a somewhat lengthy drive on small local roads through kampung (villages) when you get past the Kuala Berang area.
Getting around
By boat You can hire a boat or a boat and guide a short distance to right of the dam, if you are facing the lake from the dam.
Do
Fishing, camping and trekking, visit waterfalls, go to caves, water sports.
Go next
After you visit, if you are very adventurous, you can go on a back road into Ulu Kelantan toward Gua Musang. Otherwise, turn back and go east toward the coast of Terengganu.
