About Kafountine
Kafountine is a coastal village in the Casamance region of Senegal. The village traditionally lives from fishing and rice cultivation, but tourism is developing rapidly thanks to the beach along the filao trees and many camps have been set up, particularly around ecotourism.

Cars go from Ziguinchor many times a day.
See
Kafountine has some nice beaches. It is just north of a national park, good for bird watching and boat trips down the river. Kafountine is the starting point for excursions by canoe to the Karones Islands through a thick mangrove forming an inextricable labyrinth, a kind of African Amazon. Some of these islands are used as marijuana plantations.

Learn to plan a Djembe drum, or just enjoy a drum concert.

There are many competing places to stay. Feel free to bargain for the price, you will often get a good deal.
