About Jinzhou

Jinzhou, formerly Chinchow, is a coastal prefecture-level city in central-west Liaoning province, China. It is a geographically strategic city located in the Liaoxi Corridor, which connects most of the land transports between North China and Northeast China, and is the economic center of western Liaoning. Located on the northern shore of Liaodong Bay, Jinzhou encompasses a coastline of 97.7 km (60.7 mi), with the Port of Jinzhou being China's northernmost seaport.

It is the fifth-most populous city in Liaoning, with a population of 2,703,853 (2020 census), of whom 1,524,362 reside in the built-up (or metro) area encompassing the 3 urban urban districts and Linghai City largely being conurbated. The total area under the jurisdiction of Jinzhou is 9,989 square kilometers (3,857 sq mi), most of which is rural.

Jinzhou is an ancient city with over a thousand years of history. Originally known as Tuhe (徒河), it was part of Yan in the Warring States period. Understand

An industrial city on the western shores of Liaoning Gulf, Jinzhou is visited mainly for its storehouse of Jurassic period fossils. Jinzhou is a city with a long history, located in the southwest of Liaoning Province, which has become an important transportation hub due to its geographical location. It is not only an economic and cultural center in the Northeast, but also rich in natural scenery and historical sites. Historical sites such as Liaoshen Battle Memorial in Jinzhou bear witness to its important position in China's modern and contemporary history. With its unique geographical advantages and deep cultural heritage, Jinzhou has shown a unique charm that combines tradition and innovation in the modernization process.

Climate Jinzhou belongs to the temperate monsoon climate, four distinct seasons. Summer is hot and humid, the temperature is high, the precipitation is concentrated; winter is cold and dry, and occasional snow. The temperature is suitable in spring and autumn, especially in autumn, and the climate is pleasant and suitable for tourism. The average annual precipitation is more concentrated in summer, and the spring and autumn seasons are relatively dry.

Getting there

Jinzhou Railway Station is an important railway transportation hub. Through high-speed rail or ordinary rail, passengers can travel directly from Beijing, Shenyang, Dalian and other cities to Jinzhou. Jinzhou Railway Station offers a wealth of train options for long-distance travellers.

By car If you are driving in northeastern China, Jinzhou can be reached by major highways such as Shenyang-Jinzhou Expressway and Dalian-Jinzhou Expressway. The city's well-developed road network is suitable for exploring the surrounding attractions by car.

Getting around

By taxi Taxis or didi dache (Chinese Uber) are probably your best bet. The areas outside the city may be too distant to casually bicycle.

By bus Public Buses: Jinzhou has a well-developed public bus system covering most parts of the city. Long-Distance Buses: Several bus stations offer long-distance services to nearby cities such as Shenyang, Dalian, and Beijing.

By car Rent a car for more flexibility in traveling to nearby attractions or neighboring cities.

By bicycle Jinzhou offers bike-sharing services for short trips around the city.
