About Jhang
Jhang is the capital city of Jhang District in central Punjab, Pakistan. Situated on the east bank of the Chenab River, it is the 14th most populous city in Pakistan.
The historical name of the city and district is Jhang Sial, literally meaning the "terrain of the Sials". The word Jhang is derived from the Sanskrit word jāṅgala which means rough or forested terrain; the word Jungle also shares the same root.
The city of Jhang was built in 1288 by Rai Sial, a chief of the Sial tribe. The Sial tribe ruled this region ever since then until the last Sial ruler of Jhang, Ahmad Khan (1812 to 1822) was defeated by Ranjit Singh after fierce fighting.
Under the collective rule of the Sial Khans of Jhang and other Sial sub-tribes such as the Rajbana and Bharwana, in the zenith of their power, the Sial territory of Jhang extended up to the Muzafargarh boundary in the south, and the entirety of Chiniot, Kamalia and Kabirwala ilakas. Getting there
By bus Jhang is located about 210 km from Lahore, about 100km from Chiniot, 70 km from Faisalabad and some 35 km from Gojra. This large city is well connected by road. Jhang Faisalabad Road leads to Jhang from Chiniot or Faisalabad.
By rail The 19th century railway station is one of the oldest in Pakistan. Jhang is connected by rail to many major cities including Lahore, Karachi.

Getting around
By rickshaw or tuktuk They are still the most popular and efficient form of travel. Expect to pay anything between 20-100 Rs depending on the distance.
By taxi Taxis can be found though at the bus and railway stations.

Shrine of Sultan Bahoo- located in Garh Maharaja is probably the city's prime attraction. This 17th century Muslim Sufi is considered a saint. Heer Ranjha's Grave- is a popular shrine and landmark too, especially among couples. In summer there a variety of drinks are available in every corner of city.
Rabri - It is made by mixing peanuts, almonds & many other dry fruits in milk and is very delicious. Sugar cane rusk Limo pani - It is made up with lemon juice & water. Lassi - Lassi is the traditional Punjabi drink. Lassi is available in all parts of the city easily. It is made using yogurt. The price of one glass or a Piala of Lassi is about Rs.20-30
