Ittoqqortoormiit has around 400 inhabitants. The area is very sparsely inhabited. There are no other settlements of over 200 inhabitants for around a thousand kilometres.
Getting there
The nearest airport is 1 Nerlerit Inaat Airport (CNP IATA). which has one flight per week year-round to Akureyri and Reykjavik in Iceland. To go to other Greenlandic destinations, a helicopter transfer is needed at the 2 Ittoqqortoormiit Heliport. Cruise ships (expensive) come to the 3 Port of Ittoqqortoormiit. in the summer months. Ittoqqortoormiit is not connected by road to any other settlements.

The town is small enough to just walk around.

The town's nearest neighbour is the largest national park in the world. Don't venture too far, though, as the likelihood of rescuing you in an emergency drops exponentially the further you get from Ittoqqortoormiit. You need an expedition permit for any visit to the park.
