Understand
History The origin of the present Ijebu Igbo was not but through a hunter named Onayelu, who, according to oral history, was said to be a great hunter and hunted in the northern parts of Odo-Oluiwa - the present Ijebu Ode - where he was a prince. Following the sudden demise of his father and the subsequent controversial accession of his younger brother to the throne while he was away hunting, he decided to migrate from Ijebu Ode to settle permanently on the large expanse of land where he had been hunting, which is known today as Ijebu Igbo.
Climate The tropical savanna climate of Ijebu-Igbo, Nigeria, features distinct wet and dry seasons. There are very few seasonal differences in the town's warm temperatures throughout the year. The rainy season, which lasts from March to October, is marked by a lot of rain and high humidity.
