Green River

Understand

The town was first settled in 1876 when a ferry was set up on the East side of the river. In 1883 when a train station was opened, the east side of the river became known as Elgin while the west side of the river was named Greenriver (later changed to Green River). Today the town has a population that hovers around one thousand.

Getting there

The town is just off of Interstate 70 and is one of the few areas with services on this stretch of highway. Amtrak serves the city via its California Zephyr route between Chicago and Emeryville, in the Bay Area.

Open year round, located in heart of Green River City, Utah. Within the beautiful Green River State Park is the nine-hole Green River State Park Golf Course that winds through the cottonwood trees and along the Green River. The professionally designed sand traps, water hazards and well-defined fairways mingle beautifully with natural splendor of the desert landscape. There's also an 18-hole disc golf course.
