About Goliad

Goliad is one of the oldest and most historically significant towns in Texas. There are the remains of a ruined Spanish mission, a restored mission Espiritu Santo, and a state park (on the river). The most significant site is the wonderfully restored Presidio de La Bahia. Goliad is also the site of the Fannin Battleground where the infamous Goliad Massacre occurred during the Texas war for independence from Mexico.

Located on the San Antonio River, it is also near the Gulf of Mexico and the resort town of Rockport. There is a beautiful and historic town square with shops and cafes and the restored county courthouse.
