Understand
Diamer features the Karakoram Highway. The weather is hot and dry in the summer and dry and cold in the winter. Its capital is Chilas. It can be reached through Karakoram highway and also from the Kaghan Valley passing over Babusar Pass.
Getting there
By plane The mais gateway is Chilas Airport at Chilas.
By road Chilas can be reached by bus from Islamabad and Gilgit, through the KKH (Karakoram Highway), possibly branching over Kaghan Valley and Babusar Pass. The meeting point of KKH and Babusar Pass road is known as Chilas Zero Point.
Getting around
It's easy to get a taxi or hire a driver for trips outside of the town.

Go next
Gilgit Islamabad Kaghan Valley Fairy Meadows - Nanga Parbat (8,126 m; 9th highest peak in the world) base camp. There are some options of accommodation there. To go there, first go by bus or minivan to Raikot bridge then hire a jeep from there (you may want to do this in a group).
