About Chinchiná
Chinchiná, a town in the Zona Cafetera, is known as the heart of Colombian coffee. It is settled in a valley surrounded by coffee plantations.
The town is home to the Buendia coffee factory and Cenicafe, a coffee research centre.

Getting there
There are frequent buses going to and from Manizales (COP$7300 May 2026, 30 min). From Pereira terminal the ride take 1 hour with Arauca or Flota Oriental (COP$12,000 May 2026). From Santa Rosa Cabal buses Arauca or Colectivos Café (20/30 minutes, $COP7000, May 2026)

A coffee finca settled on top of a hill overlooking Chinchiná on one side and the mountains on another. It's either a half hour climb uphill or an expensive taxiride. The friendly owner will show you around on his finca for a small fee. Contact him first before setting off; there is not always somebody there. (updated Feb 2025) Some of the smaller coffee factories will give you a short tour if you show interest.
Sleep
It's recommended to stay at least one night at Colina del Sol (see section See). It's a nice place to get away from it all. Price per night including food is not more than COP$15,000 per person.
