About Bhilai
Bhilai is a city in Durg district of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, in eastern central India. Along with its twin-city Durg, the urban agglomeration of Durg-Bhilai Nagar has a population of more than a million, making it the second most populous urban area in Chhattisgarh after Raipur. The Bhilai metropolis contains three municipal corporations: Bhilai Municipal Corporation, Bhilai Charoda Municipal Corporation and Risali Municipal Corporation.
Bhilai is a major industrial and educational hub of central India. The city is home to several industries like Bhilai Steel Plant, Jaypee Cement, Orient Cement, NSPCL Bhilai Power Plant, Steel Authority of India, FSNL and ACC Cement. The city is home to the Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai, as well as the Bhilai Institute of Technology. Risali is an emerging hub with its own municipal corporation.
The city also has the state's oldest zoo, Maitri Bagh.
The term Bhilai is derived from the Bhil tribe which originally inhabited this region and continues to dwell in the nearby forests until today.

Getting there
By train All of the trains passing between Mumbai and Howrah have a major stop at Durg Junction which is just adjacent to Bhilai. Amritsar-Delhi trains that go through Bilaspur via Nagpur also stop in these stations (primarily Durg and sometimes Bhilai Nagar).

By plane Swami Vivekananda Airport, formerly known as Mana (Raipur) Airport, is 47 km from Bhilai. Take a cab from there to the city via Raipur or to the nearest railway station.

Mostly private vehicles can be seen (bicycles, mopeds, motorcycles, cars). Central avenue have Tempo and 6 seaters (Kind of public transport maximum fare is ₹8). You can also travel around in Autos. Civic Centre: Most happening place in Bhilai. You can eat, have Ice Cream, and Hangout with friends. Good restaurants are Hari Raj and Veggie India. Krazy Kool is also good for Ice Cream, pizzas, etc. Sector 6 market: Biggest Shopping center in Bhilai. Bhilai Steel Plant: Prestigious Steel plant of SAIL Maitri Garden: Zoo and recreation center. Shivnath Nadi: Coolest place to Picnic and hangout (best bargain: fresh fish from locals artisans)
