The site of a thriving river port at the confluence of the White and Black River that saw many a paddleboat and also the surrender of the Confederate Army of Northern Arkansas to Union forces in 1865, this former county seat features a courthouse museum and visitor center, along with just a good snapshot of the past. A chance to explore Crowley's Ridge with wooded scenery, wildlife specimens like deer and armadillos, rooting for grubs and such, and a segment of the Trail of Tears to walk upon.
