About
Hegi Castle (German: Schloss Hegi) is a medieval castle in Winterthur, in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland. Built around 1200 and first mentioned in 1225, it later passed to the Hohenlandenberg and Hallwyl families before coming under Zurich’s administration from 1587 to 1798. Restored in the early 20th century and owned by the city of Winterthur since 1947, it is now a museum and cultural venue, and a Swiss heritage site of national significance.
