The Bates College Museum of Art is an art museum located on the campus of Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. The museum's collection consists of works of art that showcase Maine as well as art from around the world, with a focus on modern and contemporary work. It holds 8,000 pieces and objects of contemporary domestic and international art. The museum offers numerous lectures, artist symposiums, and workshops. The museum galleries are divided into three sections: the larger Upper Gallery, the smaller Lower Gallery, and the Synergy Gallery which is primarily used for student exhibits and research. The museum receives nearly 20,000 visitors annually.
