We have talked a lot about the tensions between US and China and that they have been triggered over the fact that the US does not want China to invade Taiwan and they have also pledged protection and weapons to Taiwan in case China uses force against them. On the other hand, China says that Taiwan is a part of their territory and they will do whatever is needed to integrate them back into China under its “One-China” policy. It is worth noting that the Taiwanese population does not want to be under China’s regime because of how translucent they are and they fear the worst for their lives after Chinese rule.
Talking about the tensions between US and China, it is worth noting that Elon Musk has also called these tensions “a concern for everyone,” while giving an interview during Tesla’s annual shareholder meeting. “The official policy of China is that Taiwan should be integrated.” “One does not need to read between the lines.” hinting that China will integrate Taiwan into their own territory and even suggests that the US should not get too involved in it otherwise it would not be good for the world.
He also said that “The Chinese economy and the rest of the global economy are like conjoined twins. It would be like trying to separate conjoined twins. That’s the severity of the situation. And it’s actually worse for a lot of other companies than it is for Tesla. I mean, I’m not sure where you’re going to get an iPhone, for example.” Elon Musk said that they are not too worried about Tesla’s manufacturing ability and added that “There are some constraints on our ability to expand in China, and so we’re making as many cars as we can,”.
Elon Musk also says that “that is their policy and I think you should take their word seriously” on the question that is it inevitable that China takes Taiwan. Elon also says that Tesla is dependent on Taiwan’s semiconductor industry for its chips and so are Apple which is also the reason why they are trying to move chip manufacturing away from Taiwan and China.
