Polling voters living in 15 election ‘battleground states’, the news came as something of a shock on late night TV Sunday with many Democratic pundits leaning towards the 50% – 46% reading of the data a Biden – (Kamala) Harris ticket currently enjoys over the Trump – Pence duo currently occupying the White House.
In doing so, Democratic commentators did, however, largely ignore the CNN four day survey of registered voters conducted August 12th – 15th carrying with it a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.
Just last week former vice president Joe Biden nominated Senator Kamala Harris of California as his running mate, although in the days since the tie-up has failed to ignite the party as Biden no doubt hoped it would; Harris bringing with her a somewhat controversial past in previous political appointments on the west coast, and for choices in her personal life.
On a more positive note for Democrats though was Biden’s 53% – 46% lead over Trump in the CNN poll when questioning registered voters who identified as “extremely or very enthusiastic about voting.”
