History The Sabi Sand Game Reserve was established in 1934 as a private game reserve by several landowners. In 1965, it became a private nature reserve, and game viewing lodgescwere opened to visitors. The park in now held by third and fourth generation owners.

Landscape The Sabi Sand Game Reserve forms a part of the Kruger National Park, which is 2.3 million hectares. No fences are erected between the two parks, allowing the animals to roam freely and therefore have more space. Two rivers run through the Sabi Sand Game Reserve and these rivers are the Sabi River and the Sand River which supply the animals with a valuable water source.

Wildlife

There are more than two hundred species of animals that reside in the Sabi Sand Reserve as well as the Big 5 animals that you are likely to spot in the Sabi Sand which include lion, elephant, white rhino, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, hippopotamus, buffaloes, zebras and more.
