The main attraction in this port town is its beach. Hueneme sports the best sand beach in Ventura County. Along with its ample sand beach, the pier is a great spot to take a leisurely stroll and see Hueneme from a new angle - from the ocean looking in. You can catch great views of the Channel Islands as well as the wonderful sunsets that often grace the horizon. In the summertime, this beach is packed with locals and tourists alike that flock here to enjoy this iconic Southern California playground.

The majority of the shopping in this port town exists in a series of strip malls along Channel Island's Blvd between Victoria on the west and Ventura Rd on the East. In this area, there are a variety of restaurants, ranging from Carl's Jr, to Sushi, to sit-down Mexican food to fine Italian food. There are also a few grocery stores, banks, coffee shops, clothing stores and knick-knack shops.

1 Surfside Seafood, 550 E Surfside Dr. A seafood establishment at the foot of the pier that serves up fresh seafood fast. The prices are ~$10–15/person but it is worth it given the quality of the food and the fantastic location. (updated Jan 2025)
