Marinette

城市概覽

Marinette in the 19th century became an important lumbering town in Wisconsin, ultimately peaking as Wisconsin's tenth largest city during the 1900 census at around 16,000 residents. While there are still paper mills and a shipyard in town, Marinette continuously lost people until the 2020 census as a result of a declining lumber industry in the area. The lumber industry in the area however, is known for the Peshtigo fire in nearby Peshtigo.

By car Marinette is easily reachable by car, although bus services do connect Marinette primarily along the US 41 corridor.

Main highways US 41 runs south towards Green Bay and Oconto and north-northeast past Menominee into Escanaba. WIS 64 begins in the city and runs west towards Antigo and Merrill. WIS 180 is used to connect to Iron Mountain. M-35 begins in neighboring Menominee and provides a direct alignment to Escanaba. Further north, M-35 ends at US 41 between Marquette and Ishpeming.

By plane The nearest commercial airport is Austin Straubel International Airport (GRB) in Green Bay, roughly an hour's drive between the airport and the city center of Marinette.

順遊推薦

US 41 enters the Upper Peninsula in Marinette's twin city, Menominee. Green Bay to the south has numerous sightseeing options, like the National Railway Museum and Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, in addition to a much larger downtown. Sturgeon Bay to the east-southeast is along the Door County side of the bay of Green Bay and is the gateway to the Peninsula with scenic sightseeing vistas.
