Mangaratiba is a municipality in the state of Rio de Janeiro. For tourists, it is both a place to catch a ship to Ilha Grande and the site of some of the most beautiful and traditional beaches in the state.

By bus from Rio de Janeiro or by car by the road BR-101. From the Rio's Central Zone, there are buses available in the long-distance bus station Rodoviária Novo Rio. that go directly from the downtown area of Rio de Janeiro to Mangaratiba. This route is made by the bus company "Costa Verde". Mangaratiba is about 100 km from downtown Rio. Although there are no urban public transport lines connecting directly Mangaratiba to the Rio's Central Zone, there are urban bus lines that connect Mangaratiba to peripheral places of the metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro, such as the municipalities of Duque de Caxias, Nova Iguaçu and Itaguaí.
