Maiha is in the eastern part of Adamawa State, The town lies at the foot of the Mandara Mountains, with a mix of flat land and hills. The main people living there are the Fulani, Higgi (Kamwe), and Mbula. Most of them are farmers who grow maize, millet, groundnuts, and beans. Many also keep cattle and make local crafts. The main languages spoken are Fulfulde, Hausa, and English. The major religions are Islam and Christianity.
