The town of Eket is an industrial city that has evolved into a conurbation, bringing together various communities. The Eket Local Government Area is estimated to be around 176,000 km² with an estimated population in 2013 of 219,000 people. The area is oil-rich, and Eket is the thriving hub of a new oil and gas business, with more than 250 companies providing support services such as catering, flights, and exports. It is the hub of Mobil Producing Nigeria operations. Climate Eket’s climate is tropical and humid, with heavy rainfall dominating most of the year. The wet season typically runs from April to October, while a relatively brief dry season lasts from November to March. Temperatures are consistently warm year-round

Victor Attah International Airport serves the capital city of Uyo and neighbouring towns in the Akwa Ibom State. The airport is designed to handle larger aircraft operations including Boeing 787 and A380 aircraft. Akwa Imbom offers domestic services to Lagos and Abuja.
