The city has an estimated population of 120,000 inhabitants (2005). It has a mild climate (average temperatures of 22º C) and a relatively high altitude, which varies around 800m.

From São Paulo there are several daily departures by intercity bus. The trip costs R$55-83 (Dec 2021). There are multiple bus companies serving this route. The app Buscaonibus covers them for finding a ride. There are also some Blablacar rides from São Paulo for around R$55 (Dec 2021).
