The ‘2020 Time To Ride’ Wheels Ride Festival, an annual ‘cyclothon’ will take place for the sixth time this year in Taichung City, Taiwan.
The opening ceremony is set to be held in the open grounds in front of the majestic Taichung City Hall on November 29th, with riders departing this point to set off along the 73-kilometer route.
It is believed the event will attract more than five thousand participants, and absolutely anyone is welcome, but anyone who enjoys cycling must sign up by September 14th.
The Wheels Ride Festival is jointly organized by the Sports Bureau, Taiwan Sports, Leisure and Health Development Association, Cyclingtime, and OSEOUS in the hope of encouraging anyone and everyone to support and participate in the activity and the sport of cycling.
Participants will first pass by the Konan Love Bridge, Metropolitan Park, and the amusingly named Squirrel Slope, before heading west towards Qingshui to enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the famous Gaomei Wetlands, and then onto Wanggaoaliao to enjoy the view over Taichung.
The diverse and abundant scenery along the route encourages participants to enjoy the beauty of Taichung from different perspectives.
This year, the Wheels Ride Festival has received support from a program in the Sports Administration under Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, and the city government hopes to promote regular exercise amongst the wider public to help build up the level of sports nationwide.
