Ukraine President calls Crimea bridge as a military target

As we reported earlier this week, there was an attack on the bridge connecting Crimea and Russia and it has also gone under attack last year as well which means that the bridge is already losing its strength as we speak. However, it is also known that the Ukrainian forces have not directly claimed any responsibility for attack on the Crimean bridge. Now, the Ukraine President Zelensky says that the Crimea bridge “brings war not peace” which means that the Ukraine side is finally admitting to its involvement in the attack on Crimea bridge that took place earlier this week and last year as well.

“For us, this is understandably an enemy facility built outside international laws and all applicable norms. So, understandably, this is a target for us. And a target that is bringing war, not peace, has to be neutralised.” and added that “This is the route used to feed the war with ammunition and this is being done on a daily basis. And it militarises the Crimean peninsula,”. The Ukraine President said that “And later, they took this situation around the Crimea bridge, using it just as an example,” and added that “If not the Crimea bridge, they would have found another example, another reason.”Zelensky said that “Ukraine is not backtracking. It is progressively liberating its territories, which is very important,” but added that “Still, I believe we are approaching a moment when relevant actions can gain pace. I do understand it is better to see that victory comes sooner. This is what we want too.”

Ukraine President Zelensky said that the Crimea bridge has been a military target since last many years and after the Russian side backtracked from UN-backed deal to export gains to Ukraine, the attacks on the bridge between Crimea and Russia as well as other targets will increase even more. Ukraine’s military started their counteroffensive last month which had taken time to prepare as Russian occupying forces had set up several defensive lines and extensively mined Ukrainian territory. However, Ukraine’s President says that their counteroffensive is going slower than he would like.
