Former President Donald Trump urged celebrity, Dr. Oz. The urge meant to declare victory in the Pennsylvania Republican Senate primary. Even though votes showed his lead narrowing.

From the 95% of the votes counted, Dr. Oz leads with 31.2% of the vote. At the same time, it is 31.1% for challenger Dave McCormick. State law states a recount would get held if a candidate’s margin of victory is under 0.5%.

Thousands of mail-in ballots must still get counted. However, Mr. Trump took to Truth Social, his new social media platform. He cast doubt on the election and claimed that Dr. Oz won. Dr. Oz is also a surgeon best known for his appearances on the Oprah Winfrey Show. He compared the state’s counting of mail-in ballots to the 2020 election. In that, he continues to insist that he won. Mr. Trump also said, “Here we go again. In Pennsylvania, they are unable to count the mail-in ballots. It is a big mess.”

He wrote that it is harder for them to cheat with the ballots. He also provided no evidence to support his claims. A ballot print error meant that thousands of mail-in ballots reprocessed in Lancaster County. The race between Mr. Oz and Mr. McCormick will determine who will run as the next Republican senator for Pennsylvania. However, the winner of the primary will face off against John Fetterman, the state’s lieutenant governor. Pennsylvania is a key battleground state in the upcoming midterms.

The Senate seat is currently led by a Republican, Patrick Toomey. However, he is about to retire.

A third candidate, Kathy Barnette, trails at 24.7% after a last-minute surge. Dr. Oz thanked Mr. Trump and a Fox News television host for their support of his campaign. Mr. McCormick also told supporters that we could see the path ahead and envision the victory ahead. Mr. Oz said that God bless you, sir, for putting so much effort into this race. I will make you proud.

A recount would also get ordered by the afternoon of the second Thursday after the election.
