Ex-US President Donald Trump organized a Capitol riot in an attempted coup. A congressional investigation got heard as a hearing opened into the raid. Liz Cheney stated also that Mr. Trump lit the flame of this attack. She is the Republican vice-chair.
A Democrat, Bennie Thompson, stated that the riot put a risk to democracy. Trump supporters also showed massive differences in opinion on 6 January 2021. This was when lawmakers authorized Biden’s election victory.
The Democratic US House of Representatives select committee opening. It also showed clips of interviews with members of Mr. Trump’s inner circle. This coup was part of the year of investigation.
The timing got customized to reach evening TV audiences across the US. However, the footage by ex-Attorney General Bill Barr got aired.
He told that he told the former president that he lost the election. He even told him that his claims of fraud were wrong. But, the former attorney general said, “We can’t live in a world where the incumbent administration stays in power based on its view, unsupported by specific evidence, that there was fraud in the election.”
