Hargeisa (PP News Desk) — Ismail Hurreh Bubaa, the former Foreign Minister of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia has accused Somali Presidential Candidates of using scare tactics in the hope they can force the incumbent Somali President to relinquish power.
Speaking in the north east African nation in the geopolitically crucial Horn of Africa, Ismail Bubaa said “Presidential Candidates have in vain used scare tactics. Somalia will conduct an indirect election. It is quite different from elections we have here in Somaliland.”
The former Foreign Minister discounted the argument that President Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed wants to stay in power. “The Union of Presidential Candidates do not have a candidate who can defeat the incumbent President” Mr Bubaa added.
In a bizarre turn of events, Somali Presidential Candidates have called for demonstrations in the capital city Mogadishu ahead of the upcoming elections despite Somalia having no political parties actually contesting the elections.
Senators and MPs in the nation will select a President after the selection of the Speaker of the Parliament and Chairman of the Upper House.
