Bosaso (PP News Desk) — The Puntland State President Said Abdullahi Deni yesterday appointed an interim administration for Bosaso, the commercial city of Puntland in the Horn of Africa.

President Deni appointed Abdiqani Ahmed Ismail as the Interim District Commissioner of Bosaso.

Nuur Haji Huruse was appointed as the Deputy Interim District Commisioner.

The new appointments come one day after President Deni suspended Abdisalan Bashir, the former District Commisioner, from work. Last night Abdisalan submitted a letter of resignation.

The Puntland President also dissolved Bosaso administration following financial mismanagement allegations.

The city is still reeling from a recent prison raid by Al-Shabaab in which the terrorist group released more than three hundred inmates.

Last year, the Puntland Interior Ministry reorganised Bosaso into four neighbourhoods. One week ago, authorities banned carrying weapons in Bosaso.

President Deni visited Bosaso in military fatigues and vowed that “some people will have to carry the can for the failure to prevent the prison raid by Al-Shabaab.”
