Defiant protesters are remaining on the streets of Sudan. The movie is about the armed forces of the country launching a military coup. While waving flags and chanting, they have blocked the roads in Khartoum and other places in the country.

On Monday, the military coup leader Gen Abdel Fattah Burhan ha dissolved the rule of civilians. They have arrested the political leaders and called for a state of emergency. Soldiers have further opened fire on the protesting crowds and killed 10 people.

Gen Burhan is thinking of addressing the media. He has sought to justify that take over with blame on the political infighting. The coup further drew global condemnation. Diplomats have told the news agencies that the UN Security Council is about to meet on Tuesday. They will discuss this crisis.

Troops are going from house to house to arrest the organizers of local protests. The airport has been blocked, and the international flights are facing suspension. The phones and internet are down. Central Bank staff have gone on strike, and across the country, the doctors have said that they are refusing to work in military centers.

Civilians and military counterparts have been facing odds since Omar-al-Bashir was overthrown in 2019.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the military actions are the betrayal of the peaceful revolution in Sudan.

After a night of protests, the demonstrators remained on the streets and demanded civilian rule. The protests are continuing even if troops are openly firing on the demonstrators. One wounded protest he told that the army had shot in his leg outside the headquarters. Two people have died. The doctor’s union of Sudan and the information ministry has also written on Facebook that fatal shootings are happening outside the military compound.

World leaders have also reacted to the news of the military takeover. The US had joined the African Union, UK, UN, and EU to demand the release of political leaders. Among them, prime minister Abdalla Hamdok and his wife are also remaining under house arrest.

The agreement between the military and civilian leaders had the design to retake Sudan towards democracy. But it has proved to be fragile enough as multiple of the coup attempts.
