(PP News Desk) — Suldan Mohammed Suldan Abdulqadir passed away at the weekend in Hargeisa, Somaliland.

President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed has sent a message of condolence to the family of the traditional leader – a well known figure in the land that in mid-2020 established official links with Taiwan, becoming the first region of northern Africa to do so.

Suldan Mohammed took part is several Somali reconciliation conferences. Traditional leaders have described the legacy of Suldan Mohammed as one of peace-building.

Suldan Mohammed Abdullahi has left behind a legacy of peace-building.

Suldan Mohammed Abdulqadir advocated a pro-active role for traditional leaders to compliment the work of politicians.

He himself belonged to a respected family with a long history of traditional leadership.

Suldan Mohammed was today buried in Hargeisa. A new traditional leader was appointed after the funeral.
