President Putin insisted that Russia’s interests and security are non-negotiable. These reports are in the air amid Russian troops moving closer towards Ukraine’s borders.
Mr. Putin addressed in a video which was hours after Biden warned of a Russian invasion. President Putin stated that Russia was always “open for direct and honest dialogue”.
He had full confidence in the military. The West announced a range of sanctions on Russian interests. Biden mentioned, “We’ve cut off Russia’s government from Western financing”. Also, this was after Russia’s upper house of parliament gave permission to send troops.
President Putin recognizes the freedom of the people’s republics of Luhansk and Donetsk. This teared up a peace accord with Ukraine. The foreign ministry of Ukraine urged all its citizens to leave Russia. Also, this was under a warning of accelerating Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. This may lead to limit consular help.
The military in Kyiv announced the swift calling of all reservists aged 18 to 60. Denis Pushilin, the separatist leader, stated the military mobilization. It was also looking for a pace to counter Ukrainian aggression.
He also added that he could ask Russia for help. A senior official from Russia’s ruling party United Russia passed a statement. 93,000 people evacuated to Russia. Moscow has also begun evacuating its embassy in Kyiv and lowered its flags.
President Putin also claimed that the military would go to “maintain peace”. UN Secretary-General António Guterres said, “the perversion of the concept of peacekeeping”.
He also rejected the claims of genocide in eastern Ukraine. Mr. Biden stated to put it, Russia announced that it is going to carve out a big chunk of Ukraine”. However, ii was President Putin’s insistence on being open to diplomacy.
France’s foreign minister and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken canceled the meetings. French Foreign Minister Yves Le Drian also came up with the statement. Putin aims to negotiate Ukraine as a sovereign country.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock also gave the statement. He said President Putin was making efforts to turn back the wheel of history. Both mention that they are open to further negotiations with Moscow.
