After being set up with the initial intention of raising just $20,000, the account was overwhelmed with donations in just two days, and at time of typing is fast approaching $3 million.
Around 70,000 people are now understood to have donated to the account with one donation at the weekend as high as $10,000.
The account was established by Randy Park, the son of one of the victims, Hyun Jung Grant, who died at Gold Spa in the city last week.
Randy says he and his brother were left without a parental figure and with only remote links to family in South Korea according to reports.
Mr. Park said on the account page “As much as I want to grieve and process the reality that she is gone, I have a younger brother to take care of and matters to resolve as a result of the tragedy.”
Mr. Park later added a note to the page saying “I don’t know how any word I write here will ever convey how grateful and blessed I am to receive this much support,” after praising his mother, one of the eight victims of Robert Long (pictured) on Tuesday March 16th.
