Foodpanda To Expand Services Across Taiwan

Popular food delivery company Foodpanda Monday announced an expansion of its current services in Taiwan to include an additional 14 areas.
The cities and counties to benefit from an increase in the company’s 24-hour delivery service are to be: Changhua, Chiayi, Hsinchu, Hualian, Kaohsiung, Miaoli, Nantou, Pingtung, Taichung, Tainan, Taitung, Taoyuan, Yilan and Yunlin.
To date, the Foodpanda service has been limited to the area in and around Taipei and New Taipei cities.
It is understood the increased 24-hour service will come into effect from Friday, June 12th after the company has recently paired-up with local convenience stores, Family Mart, Hi Life and OK Mart.
In addition to delivering pre-cooked items like traditional food delivery companies, Foodpanda also allows people to order fresh groceries through their service.
The company is now a subsidiary of the Berlin based Delivery Hero, and was initially
founded in South-East Asia in 2012, being launched primarily across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.
It moved into the Taiwan delivery food market in September of last year.
Along with its main rival, Uber Eats, Foodpanda has, however, come in from a lot of criticism in Taiwan from other road users; those driving Foodpanda scooters are frequently seen weaving in and out of traffic to deliver food as quickly as possible.
