With just under 100 days to the go before the 2020 US elections, Democratic candidate, and the former 47th Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden is making progress in a trio of battleground states according to the latest polling figures.
Being billed as the ‘Coronavirus election’ on left-leaning US news channels, the poll results released Sunday show an increasing number of states leaning blue as the presidential campaigns start to gather pace.
Arizona, Florida, and Michigan have all returned figures to SSRS – a renowned Philadelphia based survey and research company – of between 4% and 8% polling in favour of Biden over incumbent President Donald Trump according to figures released overnight Taiwan time.
Michigan saw the largest gap with Biden leading Trump 52% to 40% , essentially matching the national average.
Florida saw the 77 year-old poll 51% – 46% over the president, with Arizona recording a pro-Biden score of 49% to 45% for Trump
President Trump won all three states in the 2016, election, albeit winning by just under 11,000 votes in Michigan.
The numbers are not surprising, however, with President Trump’s overall ‘disapproval’ ratings in all three states between 51% and 57%.
Throughout America, the Republican president is suffering at the polls across the board with disapproval ratings on his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, and racial equality hovering around 60% in each of the three aforementioned states.
