Serhiy Haida said that Ukrainian forces struck Russia’s Wagner mercenary HQ with heavy losses. The presence of Wagner’s presence at the HQ is not yet confirmed by official sources.
In the last few days, fights have begun in the southern districts of Ukraine. Reports suggest the engagement of both sides, with Ukraine Bombing the occupied city of Melitopol and Russia raging in the district of Odesa.
According to western experts, Wagers are the mercenaries backed by the state who purely act in the Kremlin’s interests. It is a private military unit working under Yevgeny Prigozhin, close personnel of President Vladimir Putin. The unit repeatedly has an accusation of human rights violations and war crimes.
The Wagers previously reported deployments to include Libya, Syria, Mali, Crimea, and the Central African Republic.
According to Mr. Haidai, in the Kadiivka strike, they expect heavy casualties, more than 50% deaths instantly, and the remaining due to lack of required medical facilities.
During a phone call between Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Joe Biden, they discussed further aid to the air defense systems of Ukraine, says White House. Adding to the statement, they told how Zelensky needed ‘just peace’ with Russia.
Russian responded to the strike at Wagner HQ with further violence in southern Ukraine. Ukrainian forces shot 10 drones, with 5 more striking the energy plants in the port city of Odesa. Zelensky announced in his speech that the damage was severe and it would take more than time to repair and restart the energy pipeline.
The attack leaves more than 1.5 million in the dark. The repair estimates many days at the earliest. According to Ukrainian officials, the Iran-made drones were behind the attack. In the next G7 leader’s online session hosted by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, they will decide on the sanctions against Iran and further sanctions for Russia.
Melitopol also felt some disturbance last week. According to Moscow authorities, the Ukrainian forces missile attack injured 10 or more civilians with 2 casualties. President Zelensky also disclosed its plans related to war.
