UK Prime Minister says no plans to send troops to Ukraine as of now

We know that the US and UK, among other parts of the Europe, are supporting Ukraine in their war against Russia whereas countries like China and North Korea have openly supported Russia in their invasion of Ukraine. Other countries, such as India, have remained neutral and have maintained that solution can be reached through talks between both parties. Now, a new statement from UK’s new defense secretary has created a bit of a controversy and the UK PM has now clarified about that to the press.

United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said, “What the defense secretary was saying was that it might well be possible one day in the future for us to do some of that training in Ukraine”. “But that’s something for the long term, not the here and now. There are no British soldiers that will be sent to fight in the current conflict.” From the statement, it is quite clear that while the UK is supporting Ukraine in its war against Russia, it does not mean that they are going to send their troops to fight against the Russians because that would mean that the UK is involved in the war too. It is worth noting that Grant Shapps was appointed Defense Secretary in Britain’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s mini-reshuffle, which was prompted by Ben Wallace’s formal resignation, in London recently.

Britain’s new Defence Secretary said that “he wanted to send military instructors to Ukraine and train their forces in Britain or other western countries” as per a report. Now, the UK Prime Minister has had to clarify the comments made by his new appointee in order not to escalate the situation any further and make their position clear on this issue. It is worth noting that there has been a new report regarding the Russia-Ukraine war which states that as many as 50,000 Russian troops have been killed in this war so far which has now completed more than 400 days. As per reports, it is being said that if the UK sends its troops to the Ukrainian camps then they would become targets of the Russians.
