As millions of users tried to log in, but could not, messages such as “cannot retrieve Tweets at this time have become increasingly common. As has – “Please try again later.”

Eager to know what’s happening with Twitter, users Googled to reasons for the now not uncommon technical snag.

For its part, Twitter issued a statement saying: “Tweets may not be loading for some of you. We’re working on fixing a problem and you’ll be back on the timeline soon.”

Twitter Support posted this message across its social media platform.

Even yesterday, once again Twitter services were down for a large number of users.

No direct reason has yet been attributed to the outages although some online comments are pointing fingers at China or North Korea. Russia too is a name often linked to cyber issues beyond its borders.

Around 40,000 users at last count reported issues according to outage monitoring website Downdetector.com

Downdetector tracks outages by collating status reports from a series of sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform.
