Trudeau’s Liberal Party narrowly won Canada’s election

The Liberal Party of Justin Trudeau gained a narrow margin in the election of Canada. However, it has failed to secure a majority of them. This is the third federal election win for Mr. Trudeau. However, critics say that the poll was a complete waste of time.

The Liberals have gained 158 seats. They are short of 170 seats necessary for the majority. The Conservatives have managed to hold onto their main opposition status. They are about to win with 12 seats.

“There are still votes to be counted but what we’ve seen tonight is millions of Canadians have chosen a progressive plan,” Mr. Trudeau told supporters in Montreal. “You elected a government that will fight for you and delivers for you,” he said.

This election took place during the fourth pandemic wave in the country. It was the most expensive election in the history of the country. Its results suggest a parliament which is the one that got elected two years ago.

This snap election call is sending the Canadians to the polls for the second time in 2 years. The world is looking at it as a bid from Trudeau to secure a majority government. However, he struggled to explain why it was necessary. The conservative leader Erin O’Toole has called it a waste of money and time.

He said that Canadians had sent him back with another minority at the cost of 460m and deeper divisions in the country. Mr. Trudeau is facing controversy over the three instances of him wearing blackface and brownface. It had also been accepted widely as a racist caricature.

Anti-vaccine protests have also heckled him on a campaign trail. Some have shouted that they would refuse the Covid 19 vaccine,

For the conservatives, the result is a complete disappointment. The leader of the conservative party ran on a centrist message in a bid to enhance the base support for the party.

While speaking to the party’s faith in Ontario, Oshawa defiant O’ Toole had pitched his vision for a greater Conservative tent. He said that he needed the courage to change Canada.

He has urged his supporters not to waver from the commitment which will work on the growth of the party’s base. Also, he has acknowledged that there is more work for them to do in the setting of the stage.

Coalitions are extremely rare in Canada, and Justin Trudeau’s Liberal party needs to compromise with the opposition party to pass its legislation.

NGP is about to become the kingmakers in this new parliament. It can also help Liberals to survive with confidence votes to get their policies.
