Terrorists Attacking Israel From Gaza Cause Massive Power, Water Stoppages – In Gaza

At least one military briefing north of the border has seen an Israeli Defense Forces Colonel, Elad Goren, refer to Hamas as using fuel that should have done to a local desalination plant in the rockets used to terrorise Israeli civilians in recent days.
An area lacking in water resources, Gaza is heavily reliant on its desalination plant to  provide water for local Palestinians.

Speaking at the briefing, Colonel Goren said “Now, 250,000 (residents) in Beit Lahiya (in Gaza) do not have water because of Hamas’ decision.”

It is understood the rockets Hamas used the fuel for then fell short of targets in southern Israel instead knocking out a number of crucial electricity lines with another quarter of a million residents of Gaza now losing electricity.

Israel has long supplied Gaza with electricity with ten high voltage power lines supplying power to the region, although now, in part because of the actions of Hamas, local Palestinians have power for just five hours a day.

Prior to the attacks beginning on Israel, Palestinians had 14 hours of Israel supplied electricity each day.

In addition to the damage caused to power lines, the direct human cost of Hamas rockets falling short was the death of 17 local Palestinians Goren said.
In related news, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel referred to the ongoing campaign of self defence against the Hamas attacks saying “I said that we will exact a very heavy price from Hamas, we are doing this, and we will continue to do so.

“The last word has not been said, and this operation will continue as long as necessary” he added.
