TAIPEI, March 24, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — 2021 for Kaohsiung Smart City is a milestone.

It’s the first time Kaohsiung has become a co-organizer of Smart City Summit & Expo.

Kaohsiung’s Department of Transportation’s “Smart Intersection Anti-Collision” also earned this year’s innovative application award.

Mayor Chen Chi-Mai at the awards ceremony again thanked President Tsai Ing-wen for initiating an eleven billion dollar investment over the past five years to let Asia Bay Area become Taiwan’s most complete 5G AIoT laboratory, smart city’s newcomer.

Mayor-Chen Chi-Mai went on to say that Kaohsiung will bring better public services and attractive investment opportunities through discount programs, by encouraging more companies to settle in Kaohsiung, developing public and private business models, and shaping an innovative supply chain to build a smarter city.

Focusing on the Asia Bay Area, Mayor Chen Chi-Mai announced Kaohsiung also provides businesses with equipment investments of over 400 million dollars, and financing plans with 0% interest.

In assigned areas, the first two years of rent is free, with 3rd and 4th years at 60% of the total, and the 5th and 6th years 80%.

Newly established plants will further enjoy a two million dollar building tax subsidy over five years.

This year’s Smart City Summit & Expo, Kaohsiung has adopted the theme of “Technological Asia Bay Area, Smart Kaohsiung”, demonstrating technological Asia Bay Area as Kaohsiung’s smart city center, building a comprehensive 5G network, promoting smart services to the whole of Kaohsiung, and utilizing the fact that Kaohsiung is the home to both a major seaport and an airport, allowing smart products and services to quickly export to new southbound countries.
