In recent times, one commodity in the technology sector that is on the rise in Taiwan is the number of unmanned aerial vehicles named as Drones. These drones are controlled by remote and can be flown on shorter heights as well as high up in the sky. Therefore, regulations are needed so that they are not harmful to anyone. It is now known that the government is preparing to introduce new legislation regulating their use in different environments throughout the country.
Also, it is revealed that the new law which regulates flying of drones or unmanned aerial vehicles will come into effect by March 2020. In order to test the regulations and for other purposes, first drone testing site has now been opened in Taiwan by the MOTC in Miaoli County. At this site, you will also get drone flight demos as well.
On this site, you will find a 20-meter long runway and over 300 square meters of available space for drone flight testing. The maximum weight permitted for UAVs at the site is 150 kg. The exact location of this drone testing site is near the Houlong Riverside Park in Miaoli County. It is also known that this site will be used as a “research area for private firms as well as government agencies for work related to the use of remote-controlled UAVs and their potential public or private applications.”
With the opening of this new site, the government hopes that it will bring out talent in the drone industry. Government of Taiwan reveals that its main goal is “for the testing facility to serve as a vital link in developing the domestic and international supply chains for UAV production and development.”
