Taiwanese table tennis pair wins Mixed doubles event in Shenzhen China

Taiwanese table tennis pair of Lin Yun-ju and Cheng I-ching won the mixed doubles event at the Seamaster 2019 ITTF World Tour Platinum China Open in Shenzhen. The pair from Taiwan defeated Hong Kong in the Finals 3-1 (10-12, 11-6, 11-1, 11-5) in a match that was played for 30 minutes. The Hong Kong pair was made by Wong Chun Ting and Doo Hoi Kem.

This was also the second victory of this season from the Taiwanese pair. Earlier this year, the pair won the International Table Tennis Federation Oman Open held in March. Lin, who is just 18 years old, was ranked World No. 21 in the ITTF men’s singles ranking in May this year.

Cheng, Lin’s partner, is currently World No. 8 in the women’s ranking. Apart from the mixed doubles event, Cheng also played the singles event in which she lost to her opponent from China in women’s quarterfinals. This defeat was handed to Cheng by China’s Zhu Yuling by 1-4 (11-7, 12-14, 7-11, 4-11, 5-11)

As far as the Platinum China Open is concerned, it is currently part of the ITTF World Tour which is held every year in different locations around the world. The tournament is being held in Shenzhen Bao’an Gymnasium this year from May 28 to June 2.
