There is a lot of talks heard around the world when it comes to strengthening their defence and military. However, we have a new kind of report from Taiwan’s military camp as the news is that Taiwan military will spend the whopping US $11 million to just renovate its offices in the US. It is said that the Ministry of National Defense has approved spending of NT$340 million so that its offices in the US could be renovated. This is also done as the ties between Taiwan and the US have reached an all-time high and they need more space as well and modern amenities too.
The ties between Taiwan and the US have become stronger ever since the deal has gone ahead to supply Taiwan with F-16 V fighter jets, M1A2T tanks and upgraded PAC-3 Patriot missiles. It is reported that the structure and interior space of the ministry’s office in the US are not corresponding to its needs any longer which is why a renovation is needed. Also, the renovation of Taiwan military’s US office is expected to take a year and a half and is expected to be completed by May 2021 and start by December 20, 2019.
The interesting part about the Taiwan military’s US office is that there used to be a hospital before Taiwan purchased it so the structure is not meant to be used as a military office. Also, the utilities in the current office frequently break down and space is not enough for the frequent meetings that are taking place between both parties. All these factors mean that the building needs to be renovated at the earliest. It also helps that the building is getting renovated as the ties between the US and Taiwan are warming as it leaves a good impression that Taiwan is committed towards the country.
