We have seen that many developments have taken place in recent times. Many parties have been formed and many leaders have emerged because of the upcoming Taiwan elections in 2020. One of the major contenders, Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je, has still not decided whether he will contest the elections or not. It is also believed that if Ko Wen-je decides not to contest the elections then he will support Foxconn founder’s Presidential bid.
Now, we have an interesting development which we are going to report right now. According to a new report emerging out of Taipei, the City Mayor of Taipei held a secret meeting with business leaders of Taiwan. Since the meeting was a secret one, no details have been shared with the media regarding the agenda of this meeting. However, questions are starting to be raised about the agenda of this meeting. Some believe that this meeting was to discuss the upcoming Taiwan elections. While some say that this meeting was to discuss the capital’s policies.
This meeting between business leaders and Taipei Mayor took place at Taipei’s Sheraton Hotel. According to one report, prominent leaders and founders of companies such as Regent Hotel, Walsin Lihwa Corp., Sinyi Realty, Eastern Home Shopping & Leisure, Hotai Motor and Evergreen Sky Catering were present at this meeting.
While we have already mentioned that the agenda of this meeting is not known, it might be possible that the meeting was held to discuss Ko Wen-je’s Taiwan Presidential bid. Some of the mayor’s critics accused him of going back on his promise of clear and transparent relations between the city government and the corporate world by attending the secretive encounter. Critics also wanted to know whether Ko Wen-je met business leaders as Chairman of TPP or as the Mayor of Taipei City.
