Taiwan has once again rejected all the claims by Beijing that it is interfering in the unrest that is taking place in Hong Kong. We have been seeing that Taiwan officials are constantly denying any hand in the Hong Kong protests. Once again, Taiwan has said that Beijing ‘s claims of them interfering in Hong Kong protests is “talking nonsense”.
However, in a statement released by Taiwan, the Chinese Communist Party has instead been blamed for the unrest that is taking place in Hong Kong. They have said that the Hong Kong protests are due to the fact that China’s CCP has refused to consider the protesters’ democratic demands.
This statement was given by Taipei-based Mainland Affairs Council because of the fact that a top mainland representative on Taiwan affairs accused Taiwan leadership of using the Hong Kong crisis in order to attack its “one country, two systems” model.
The council said, “You can’t solve problems by talking nonsense,”. “The CCP should boldly face up to its mistakes, carry out political reform, put in place democracy and respect human rights. Only then can they ease China’s internal and external contradictions.”
Also, this is in regards to the Chinese Communist Party’s claims that Taiwan remains a part of China. This is even after the fact that China and Taiwan are governed separately from 70 years. Apart from that, China’s President Xi Jinping reiterated that they are looking to unify Taiwan with China on the “one country, two systems” model as well.
Last week, Taiwan was accused of using the Hong Kong riots in its favour and it was reportedly said that “The DPP instigated and supported riots in Hong Kong and then used the chaos in Hong Kong to attack ‘one country, two systems,'” The report added that Taiwan is listed along with US and Britain as having “black hands” from almost three months of Hong Kong protests
