Russia now eyes on conquering East Ukraine

Russia said that it would focus on the invasion of east Ukraine. It will emphasize now on liberating east. This suggests a possible shift in strategy. The defense ministry stated that the initial aims of war are complete. Russia had reduced the combat capacity of Ukraine.

Russia’s invasion wishes to swiftly capture major cities. But it got hindered by Ukrainian resistance.

Sergei Rudskoy, head of the General Staff’s main operations administration, also said that the mains tasks of the first stage of operation are done.

He referred to an area in east Ukraine as the area in the hands of Russian-backed separatists. Russia’s military is continuously bombarding. It is trying to take over Ukrainian cities such as the capital Kyiv. Gen Rudskoy characterized this as an attempt to tie down Ukraine’s forces in their own country.

Zelensky stated that his troops landed hard, powerful blows on Russia. He called Moscow to recognize the necessity for serious peace talks. He also stated that defenders are leading Russian leadership. There is a need for fair, urgent, meaningful talk. This is important for the sake of the result, not for the delay.

The exact end goal of Russia is still vague. However, Putin claimed that he aims to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine. He characterized the government’s leaders as a neo-Nazi junta. They are killing millions in the genocide of Russian speakers.

The claims do not have a base. Also, Ukraine and its Western allies dismissed it as a pretext to carry out war in the pretext of eastern Ukraine. A defense official said that Russia made no progress in conquering Kharkiv. Russia’s army has also greater success in the South. It seized several towns and cities like Kherson.

Moscow claims that 93% of the Donbas region of Luhansk is under the control of the Russian army. More than a third of the entire area was under separatist control before the war began.

Andriy Yermak is chief of staff to Ukraine’s President Zelensky. He said that it is a big danger before the war gets finished to make a public prognosis.
