PM Boris Johnson promises to tackle drug misuse

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has taken the pledge to cut the crime due to drug misuse. He has also promised to tackle the crime by tuning the electronic tagging on more burglars after their release.

The Government is also proposing that every neighborhood in Wales and England must have a named police officer to control drug misuse. They can contact that officer. Mr. Johnson has said that his efforts to make this society safe will remain unstinting. But the Police Federation is representing rank and file officers. It is said that fighting such crime needs great investment. The Labour Party has accused the government of being “all talk and no action” on law and order.

Under this Beating Crime Plan, more of the robbers, burglars, and thieves would have their locations monitored. It will be done with an electronic tag for 24 hours a day after they are leaving prison.

The document is also saying that the Project Adder will expand from five areas to 13 areas in England. The new areas include Newcastle, London’s Hackney, Tower Hamlets. Wakefield, Liverpool, Wirral, and Knowsley.

The Government is arguing that the allocation of a named officer will ensure the persistent crime. Also, it will help to tackle better the social behavior in their known area.

The Ministers are also removing the rules which the former prime minister proposed. It had made it harder for the officers to make use of their section 60 stop and search powers. These powers allow an officer to search the people without any reasonable suspicion in the places.

The easing out of the rules is having some controversies and will cause a lot of disquiet.  A part of the trial and probation service in wales will be capable of requiring the prisoner’s release on the license. It will attach ankle tags for a year to monitor the amount of their alcohol consumption and sweat.

The probation officers can impose the tags where the drinking alcohol is about to increase that can give birth to another crime.

Mr. Johnson said, “When I first stood on the steps of Downing Street as prime minister, I promised to back the police and make people safer because we cannot level up the country when crime hits the poorest hardest and draws the most vulnerable into violence.”

He continued, “That is why my government has remained unstinting in its efforts to protect the British public, and this plan delivers a fresh commitment, as we emerge from the impacts of the pandemic, to have less crime, fewer victims, and a safer society.”
