No New COVID-19 Cases In Taiwan – Again

In figures released by Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), the nation once again recorded no new cases of COVID-19 Thursday.

Coming on the back of a similar announcement on Tuesday, of the 910 suspected cases tested for the virus yesterday, none came back positive.

Since the outbreak began, Taiwan has conducted over 51,600 tests for the virus with just 395 returning positive.

Six people have so far died of coronavirus related illnesses in Taiwan, although all are believed to have had underlying health issues.

Most of the individuals testing positive had proven travel history with the vast majority confirmed as picking up the virus prior to returning to Taiwan.

Earlier this week COVID-19 figures around the world passed the two million mark. Of those, around 145,000 individuals have died of virus related illnesses.

The USA remains the nation worst affected by the virus that began late in 2019, in China, with almost 35,000 virus related deaths from 678,000 people infected.

When comparing infection rates to total populations though, smaller European nations such as Malta, San Marino, Andorra, and Luxembourg are still suffering when held up alongside their larger neighbors.
